I’m a lawyer – aren’t you doing us out of a job?
Not really. People still need legal advice – and this book tells them when that is particularly necessary. The reality is that if people can’t afford a lawyer they can’t afford a lawyer – this book isn’t going to change that.
It does highlight the increase in unbundled legal services and public access to the bar, and encourages litigants in person to make good use of ad hoc advice or representation where a litigant cannot afford to pay someone to have conduct of a case throughout. The book may be useful for busy lawyers with clients who are interested in explanations of the legal context of their case – many of their questions about terminology or process or the general structure of the main family law provisions will be answered by the book. Set them some reading homework and save yourself some time! |
